In local towns and villages, residents are fighting to prevent unjustified housing
developments, and many have set up local Action Groups (such as WAG). SEEAGA is an
attempt to pool resources and work together to fight back against these inconsiderate
Basildon Draft Local Plan In line with government instructions, Basildon council have
to produce a plan for house building for the next 20 years, and the draft plan has
now been put to public consultation.
It proposed 3,300 more homes in Wickford, many on the green belt, two new traveller
sites and extra pitches on existing sites. The Wickford Action Group had many objections
to the plan and urged all residents to submit their responses. Read about the Plan

Consultation on the recommended changes January to February 2018
Adoption by the Council by March 2018
New Health Centre?
Plans for a new Health Centre for Wickford have been bandied about for over 10 years,
and but the Council’s “solution” now under construction is for a building on the
site of the old Wickford market.
Instead of a Health Centre, all that the Council plan to do is to re-locate a doctor’s
surgery from London Road, and on any space remaining, build - more flats!more
